Denis Roussel Award 2019 Recognition

I am honored and so very happy to have my handmade books included in the list of 'Outstanding Work,' in the Denis Roussel Award submissions for 2019. A big thank you to juror, Jesseca Ferguson-- and to the Rfotofolio folks (Connie & Jerry Rosenthal)— for the honor and recognition, and for putting this Award together. Denis was such an inventive, imaginative artist, fully realizing his vision-- leaving a beautiful body of work-- so I'm thrilled to be connected in this way, and to be in such great company among this list of artists, which includes a few of my very favorite photographers/print-makers. Summer Blues!

‘Summer Blues,’ an exhibit conceived and curated by Hamilton Ward, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is a group invitational celebrating the wonderful 19th century process of Cyanotype— the Blue Print— in all its possibilities.

And, below this poster, is just one of the eight prints that I’ll be showing.

I am honored to have my work featured in #NoFilter, by Natalia Price-Cabrera, published in May 2019. It’s a fantastic book she put together, filled with creative ideas from creative artists from all over the world. Small, perfectly square, and jam-packed with illustrations and accessible how-to information. Definitely worth having on your bookshelf!!

First Place in Art Intersection's Light Sensitive 2019, juried by Christopher James

I am both thrilled and truly honored that my Piano Hinge Handmade Artist Book, Bound Eucalyptus, was awarded First Place in Art Intersection’s Light Sensitive 2019 juried exhibit. A big thank you to Alan Fitzgerald, of Art Intersection, and to juror, Christopher James.

I look forward, too, to being back out at Art Intersection teaching a tri-color gum bichromate workshop, on May 18/19. That class is now full, but if you’re in the area, do stop by and introduce yourself Friday night, May 17, when I’ll be giving a lecture at Art Intersection, from 7-8 pm. Hope to see you there!

HONORABLE MENTION

I'm so pleased to learn that my photograph, Rose Hips, 2019 (a tricolor gum bichromate over cyanotype print, from The Old Garden series) was selected by Juror, Christopher James, for exhibition in Bostick & Sullivan’s call for entry exhibit, The Handmade Photograph: Contemporary Photographers Working in Historic Processes. And I am thrilled that this image was also awarded an Honorable Mention! The exhibit will be on view in Santa Fe from June 7 to July 27, with opening reception on June 14. Norton Museum of Art!

I am honored to have my handmade artist book, "Ginko Leaves" (origami accordion book) now on view through June 19, in "Out of the Box: Camera-less Photography" at the stunning Norton Museum of Art, in West Palm Beach, Florida. And I am excited and thrilled to announce that this piece has been acquired for the Norton Museum’s Permanent Collection! Thank you to Tim B. Wride, the Norton’s William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography, and also for that beautiful display— and to Kat Kiernan, Director of Panopticon Gallery, in Boston.

Polymer Photogravure: A Step-by-Step Manual Highlighting Artists & their Creative Practice

I am honored and very happy to be one of the artists whose work is featured in Clay Harmon’s just released (2019) Polymer Photogravure book, one in a series on alternative printing processes published by Routledge. Informative and beautifully done!

Recollections at Panopticon Gallery. Opening Reception November 8

I am looking forward to the upcoming exhibition, Recollections, at Panopticon Gallery, in Boston, Massachusetts, where I will be showing some of my tricolor gum bichromate images from The Old Garden. I am excited to be exhibiting with the talented Sal Taylor Kydd.
