At the Beach!
Since mid- June, I've been photographing on a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina - enjoying the sun-- running, biking, kayaking, occasional storms, and even Hurricanes (well-- at least one- Hurricane Arthur). I miss my studio, but love just hanging out and photographing.

I'm really excited that my gum bichromate work is featured on Lenscratch-- Alternative Process Week! Lots of beautifully rendered imagery and specific processes featured each day of the week (including salt prints; photogravure; cyanotype; wet plate collodion; mordencage; platinum), all pulled together by photographer, Kat Kiernan, of The Kiernan Gallery.

The HAND Magazine, 1st Anniversary Issue

Alternatives 2014: Biennial Exhibition in New Zealand

I am very happy to learn that three of my images (one tri-color gum; one platinum over pigment; and one gum over platinum) have been selected for Alternatives 2014, a biennial exhibition that will open July 16- at the beginning of their new semester- at the Edith Gallery of Whanganui UCOL (Universal College of Learning), in Whanganui, New Zealand. Rita Dibert, head of their Quay School of Fine Arts, put this exhibition together.
I wish I could be there! Hopefully, I'll be receiving some installation photos and will post those after the July 16 opening.

Artist in Residence
I spent this past week as the Artist-in-Residence at Ravenscroft School, an impressive K-12 private school situated on a beautiful 125-acre campus, located in Northeast Raleigh. I worked with Upper School Art Instructor and artist, Joyce Fillip, teaching her two high school photography classes the historic gum bichromate printing process.
We had a lot of fun, and the students were so willing to learn, so interested in everything-- and so much fun-- full of energy-- and very welcoming to me. So thanks to them, they made it all seem way too easy.

All in the Family
My daughter, Annalee, has not only been the subject, for many years, of my Figurative work, she has been my muse and a tireless collaborator. Now, as it turns out, she's also amazing behind the camera! Although not currently a photographer by profession, it would appear she has that career just waiting for her, too.
So check out these lyrically beautiful images she made on a recent Sunday morning along the train tracks in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
