Altered Narratives

When Christine Eadie, contemporary tintype artist, and I first met-- at an alternative process exhibit in which we both had work hanging-- at the Univ of SC a year or so ago, we talked about how great it would be to create a show similar to that, perhaps in Charleston.  Christine was up for doing all the heavy lifting, since she lives in Charleston-- but she told me she had no idea about which artists to possibly invite.  So I gave her the names and contact information for all but two of the artists who will be in this exhibit.  Admittedly (selfishly), they were some of my favorite artists who are making beautiful contemporary imagery, using 19th century printing processes.

Thanks to Christine for all the hard work of herding the cats and helping to make all this come to fruition.  The show, Altered Narratives, opens at the beautiful City Gallery at Waterfront Park, located in Charleston South Carolina, on March 18.

I'll be there, and I hope to see you there, too!  You can read more about the artists and the exhibit here.

Girl with Pomegranate II (gum over pt/pd)

And even more exciting . . . I'll be teaching another gum bichromate workshop at the amazing Art Intersection the weekend of April 9.  And on Friday, April 8, I'll be giving an artist lecture about my work.  I'll post more when the date gets closer, but hope to see you there!

This image was made with color film and a 'Diana' toy camera.  I subsequently made a tricolor gum print of it.  Thrilled that it was accepted into this exhibit!
