Layer by Layer: Tricolor Gum Workshop at Maine Media Workshops!

I’m excited to be teaching the tricolor gum bichromate printing process at Maine Media Workshops this summer (August 28-September 1)!

So come join me for a week of fun and creativity at MMW, located in beautiful Rockport, Maine, where you can learn how to interpret your images in this unique and creative 19th century hand-applied printing process.

You can read all the details here. And I hope to see you there!

YDP's Hot 100!

I am thrilled and honored to be selected by YourDailyPhotograph.com to the ‘Hot 100 of 2022 list, for the second year in a row.

YourDailyPhotograph.com is the industry’s leading online journal for international collectors of fine art photography. Artists named to the influential list are selected by a panel of experts. The selection committee does not accept applications for entry into the annual award program, instead winners are selected based on quality of the work produced.

From CEO, Daniel Miller: “We are honored to help shine a spotlight on the important work of each of these emerging artists and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.”

And you can see the work I currently have up in the shop, here.

2023 Artist Support Grant!

I am thrilled and honored to have just been awarded a fully funded 2023 Artist Support Grant from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County.

Enormous appreciation to the United Arts Council Board of Directors and this year’s grant panelists. This grant is in support of my hand-made artist books.

2022 Members' Juried Exhibition!

I am thrilled to have my handmade artist book, Murmuration (Bird Box) accepted into the 2022 Members’ Juried Exhibition at the Center for Photographic Art, in Carmel, California. The exhibit, juried by Christa Dix, Executive Director of the Griffin Museum of Photography, opens on April 9 and runs through May 8. And I am doubly thrilled to have this image among the 4 on the postcard announcement!

B+W Photography Magazine ( UK)

This is such an honor, and I am absolutely thrilled with this cover image of one of my chlorophyll prints on the just released issue (#260) of Black+White Photography Magazine (UK). Enormous appreciation to Susan Burnstine for all her insightful questions and beautifully written article about my chlorophyll prints- and to Mark Bentley of B+W Photography (UK). What a fantastic early Christmas present! Appreciation to Susan, too, for sending this release to me. I couldn't be happier! Courtesy of Black & White Magazine (UK) issue #260.

2021 Lishui Photography Festival, Alternative Photography Exhibition at Lishui Museum

I am so honored to have some of my tricolor gum bichromate work from ‘The Old Garden’ series and one of my cyanotype handmade artist books included in the 2021 Lishui Photography Festival in Lishui, Zhejiang, China, in the amazing Alternative Photography Exhibition, "Reflections and Innovations: Contemporary Practices of Historical Processes," held at the Lishui Museum. And what an astonishing line-up of artists- historical to contemporary! I am so proud to be included. An enormous thank you to HengLi Ge for this invitation, and also to Nai Kong. Special appreciation to Professor Zhong Jiangming, of Nanjing University of Arts, for organizing it all. This exhibition will be on exhibit through 2021.

I was also honored to be included as a panelist on the Zoom discussion which took place on Saturday morning in China (Friday night our time). I believe there will be a recording of this posted shortly. Thanks also to Sam Wang for overseeing this panel so expertly- and also to Ellie Young for her support of my work.

Congratulations to all involved in the conception and building of the new Lishui International Handmade Photography Center. I am also thrilled and doubly honored to have been asked to be one of the Advisors for this amazing Center. And there's me, holding a picture of the certificate! Thank you, HengLi Ge.
